Position

PURPOSE OF THE JOB


Reporting directly to the Design Senior Manager, the Denim Designer will support the development of all design activities for Woman Line (Guess Jeans) with a main focus on all DENIM categories.

He/she will also support presentations of the line to merchants, buyers, product developer,s and sales teams.



CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Support the design process from concept to completion while partnering with the Head of Designer to ensure alignment of priorities and direction
  • Regular inspirational trips across Europe in order to perform research on denim fashion trends
  • Design and develop commercial denim products, planning the line according to fashion trends and sales needs
  • Collaborate to create and present mood boards for each season showcasing silhouette, fabric, and wash range
  • Create and present design boards for each season showcasing silhouette, fabric, and wash range
  • Create and present technical flat sketching for tech packs
  • Create artwork for prints/embroideries/embellishments
  • Choose details for every style and each wash of the denim line assortment: threads, trims, construction of the garment
  • Work closely with the design team and also with Buyers and Brand Managers
  • Regular inspirational trips across Europe in order to perform research on denim fashion trends as well as trips in the Mediterranean area to check samples at sms stage
  • Technical sheets, graphics, seasonal books, and drawings.
  • Fabric selection, fit development w. technical dept., model makers, vendors
  • Samples development check and fitting in office and on suppliers’ factories
  • Exhibitions, fashion shows, technical presentations, and lookbooks
  • Moodboards and color charts
  • Visual for product guidelines
  • Visit manufacturers or trade shows, market browsing
  • Select fabrics, embellishments, accessories, details, or styles


Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Fashion and/or Design Arts
  • At least 3/5 years of experience in the same role and field (background in a DENIM FASHION BRAND)
  • Good understanding of denim wash processes
  • Strong knowledge of fashion and upcoming denim trends
  • Strong attitude and understanding of fashion products, style, and graphic trends
  • Highly creative with a clear understanding of the Guess Brand DNA
  • Fashion eye with commercial awareness
  • Innovative traits are necessary with solid attention to authentic details and self-organized skills
  • Must possess the ability to handle multiple tasks/projects with adherence to deadlines and design calendar
  • Team player
  • Dynamic personality, fast thinker, positive attitude
  • Available for frequent traveling
  • Sense of urgency
  • Fluent English
  • Good knowledge of computer skills: excel, Word, Outlook, and Power Point
  • Extensive computer experience including but not limited to Microsoft: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.
