Position

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Reporting directly to the Product Line Manager, the Accessories & Footwear Product Designer will develop all design activities for the Accessories & Footwear Division, with the main focus on men collections, especially bags.

In particular, the Product Designer will be responsible for designing sketches, graphics, hardware, artworks, labels and trims for accessories and footwear as well as on-product marketing, where applicable.

The role will also support presentations of the line to merchants, buyers, product developers and sales teams in adoption and proto reviews.

 

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support and collaborate on seasonal design and graphic design process from concept to completion, while partnering with the Head of Department to ensure alignment priorities and direction
  • Research new trends and conduct market analysis
  • Inspirational trips across Europe in order to perform research on man fashion trends
  • Design and develop graphics, hardware, artworks, labels and trims according to fashion trends and sales needs
  • Make graphic proposals for each seasonal collection (fashion basic and collection)
  • Realize artworks, technical sheets, graphics, seasons book and drawings
  • Create graphic moodboards and colour charts
  • Make coloring styles proposals
  • Give support in check, release and approval of artworks
  • Create customization, hangtags, jokers and packaging
  • Create sketches and color rendering of the new styles according to the collection structure
  • Research trends, fabrics and details (internet, fairs, trip, etc…)
  • Visit manufacturers
  • Select embellishments, colors, or style for each shoe or accessory
  • Participate and contribute to the Briefing meetings
  • Participate to exhibitions, fashion shows, technical presentations and lookbook
  • Exchange technical sheet with all graphics detail with the PD team
  • Work with the Design team in order to provide the graphic placement
  • Work with all members of Design, Tech Design, Production, Buying and Visual Design teams and create graphics for needed areas
  • Contribute and implement special projects and seasonal product initiatives

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Fashion and/or Design Arts
  • Previous experience in the same role and field (accessories design in a fashion company)
  • Trend catcher, fabrics and details researcher (internet, fairs, market visits, etc...)
  • Taste for prints and sense of color
  • Extensive knowledge about product, fabrics, hardware, style and graphics
  • Strong attitude and understanding of fashion product, style and graphic trends
  • Highly creative with a clear understanding of the Guess Brand DNA
  • Fashion eye with commercial awareness 
  • Innovative traits are necessary with strong attention to authentic details and with self-organized skills
  • Must possess the ability to handle multiple tasks/projects with adherence to deadlines and design calendar
  • Team player
  • Dynamic personality, fast thinker, positive attitude
  • Available for frequent travelling
  • Sense of urgency
  • Fluent English
  • Good knowledge of computer skills: excel, Word, Outlook and Power Point
  • Extensive computer experience including but not limited to Microsoft: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop etc.
  • Highly proficient in all Adobe CS software with a strong foundation in traditional painting, drawing and typography
