Position

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Responsible for patterns of Guess Apparel line (Knit, Jersey and Woven Bottoms categories), the role will able to convert a designer's sketch into accurate and creative patterns. Will act as a link between design and manufacturing;

The Model Maker will work directly with designers on 1st patterns.

Will make necessary alterations on patterns, garments or PROTOS as required;

Will amend and archive existing patterns or create brand new patterns; Take active part in fitting; Document pattern and fit changes with timely execution and within hard deadlines;

Measure Proto samples, SMS samples, PP samples, Top Samples.


CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work directly with designers from 1st pattern concept through all steps till production;
  • Attend fitting sessions and make accurate notes relating to pattern alterations;
  • Alter patterns in accordance with fitting details prior to grading deadlines;
  • Create dedicated MSMTS charts;
  • Create dedicated GRADING charts;
  • Liaise with factories and technical design staff, as required;
  • Solve problems that may arise with patterns when used by factories or in house sample machinists.

Requirements

  • At least 4/5 years of previous experience in pattern making, technical design and related field (APPAREL FASHION)
  • Proficient with computer CAD drafting software (GERBER knowledge is a plus)
  • Good knowledge of Windows Office and of the main pattern design systems (Adobe, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign);
  • Knowledge of and experience using conventional and unconventional fabrics and materials
  • Experience with complex patterns integrating multiple fabrics and trims
  • Fitting skills and good knowledge of construction methods
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail
  • Working on cross-functional and multi-national teams
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Fluent in Italian and in English
